Iron
Eurofer's plan to host the Iron & Steel Cooperation Platform has been abandoned in favour of working in smaller more manageable clusters based primarily on the iron and steel production routes/steel types. The clusters consist of groups of EU steel producers for integrated steel & iron; stainless, special steels and special alloys (S4A); and EAF carbon steel. In order to assist its members in their implementation of REACH, Eurofer has set up a REACH Forum. See www.eurofer.org/index.php/eng/REACH and for the Eurofer secretariat reach@eurofer.be.
“A REACH iron consortium (known as the Iron Platform) was established by the International Pig Iron Association and others. The Iron Platform has its website at www.iron-consortium.org from which the consortium agreement and many guidance documents can be downloaded. For additional information, please contact Mr. Chris Barrington at ipia@pigiron.org.uk. Registration dossiers have been submitted for all substances and letters of access are available via the website portal.”
For ferro-alloys, please refer to the respective non-ferrous substance consortia.
